Every family grieves differently, and every goodbye is personal. Barn Angels offers both communal and private composting options for small animals, allowing you to choose the service that feels most meaningful for your pet and your family.

A Gentle Return to the Earth

We understand personally that the bond between a person and their horse is unlike any other. They are more than animals—they are family, trusted partners and part of some of our most meaningful memories.

That is why we are proud to offer a dignified and environmentally conscious aftercare option for your equine family member.
Our highly trained team will care for your horse from the moment we arrive through to their final return to the earth. We offer advance bookings, scheduled same-day service and immediate emergency service whenever possible.

Every horse is treated individually, with patience, compassion and respect throughout the entire process.

The Equine Composting Process

Your horse is carefully placed on a bed of fine, soft shavings and gently covered with organic materials.

Through our carefully managed composting process, natural biological activity and heat begin the process of returning your horse to the earth.

Over approximately two to four months, depending on their size and individual circumstances, this natural process transforms the organic material into finished compost.

From there, it can return to the land through restoration, tree planting and land revitalization initiatives, allowing the natural circle of life to continue.

A Tree Planted in Their Memory

A tree is planted in memory of your horse, creating a living tribute that can continue to grow long after goodbye.

Through restoration and tree planting, their memory becomes connected to new growth, renewed habitat and the continued cycle of life.

For many families, there is comfort in knowing their horse’s final journey can become part of something living and lasting.

A life remembered. A tree planted. A legacy that continues to grow.

Planning Ahead and Booking with us

We understand that planning for the loss of a horse is never an easy subject to discuss. For many families, even thinking about that day can feel overwhelming.

Making arrangements in advance, however, can provide peace of mind and remove the pressure of making difficult decisions during an already emotional time. It also helps ensure that your preferred timing and service arrangements are available, particularly during busier seasons.

Our team can coordinate directly with you, your veterinarian or your barn to create a plan that reflects your wishes and your horse’s individual circumstances.

There is no pressure nor obligation. We are simply here to answer your questions, help you understand your options, and make sure everything is in place when the time comes.

When that day arrives, one call is all it takes. We will take care of the rest.
